Default Radio Applications

Please Login to Remove!

I've been looking though the apps and found 2 radio apps (Pandora and Slacker). Can anyone tell me what the difference is between them and what usage charges might apply to them?

Thanks!

No usage charges from either. Since they're free, why not try both and decide for yourself.

Thanks!

I don't consider slacker and pandora radio applications. Rather , they are music selection apps.

Iheartradio lets you select from more than 150 clear channel radio stations. Hopefully they will put all of them on in the future.

Moodio.fm lets you select from a list of radio stations that are in their data base, some clear channel, some entercomm, and others.

For all intent and purposes, they are radio apps but, no, they aren't technically "radio" apps. Personally, I prefer Pandora.

the types of music are the only differences i have seen. Pandora gives you more artisits very closely related to whichever artist you put in. Slacker will give a broader range of musicians that still pertain to the particular genre

I'm a fan of Moodio. I set up my local stations on the web site and now I can get them on the go when I'm out of regular radio range.

using Slacker right now, and it works well enough to meet my needs. No Pandora love for the 8220 yet.

I like Pandora myself.

Be Warned everyone...

It seems to block calls and text when in use. Not all the time but it happens.

Wirelessly posted (curv 8310)

Usage charges yes you have them if you don't have unlimited data plan. I like slacker myself. And any data use can block calls and sms,mms email hit and miss with that part.

Don't see why not, provided you have a data plan.

Cool thing about Slacker is you can go to their website, log in, and customize channels by specifying a primary band, then choosing from the other 100 or so it thinks are similar. Go to your bb, update channels, then your custom channel shows and only songs from the bands you picked will play. Only disadvantages I've seen with Slacker vs Pandora is the app size is about 4 times greater and it seems much slower to load and start playing than Pandora.

My vote goes with Pandora. I was using it previously on my PC and now use it on my phone. It uses intelligent software that allows you to rate songs in order to fine tune the selection of music on "channels."
