Default Google Calendar

Please Login to Remove!

I have two calendars on Google Calendar, one for my personal life and the other for work.

My personal life calendar is set as the 'Default' calendar and syncs fine, yet when I go into Options>Sync These Calendars it only has my default calendar and not my work calendar.

I've tried syncing and still only the default..........anyone know what I can do?

Google Sync will only sync to the Default calendar on the handheld.

Mostly true, but with a slight twist. After your first sync you can go back into Google Sync>Options>Sync these Calendars (at the bottom)>Hit the app button>change option and then select whichever calendars you have associated with your default calendar.

Hi Scooter, thanks for replying.

When I try that and go into Google Sync options it only ever shows the Default Calendar, not any others. Is it only after the first ever sync that you can see it? as I've probably sync the calendar 100 or more times since.

Maybe I could reset it or something

No, you can't change that option.
Like I said earlier... Google Sync will only allow you to sync your Google Calendar(s) with the DEFAULT calendar on the handheld.
This means that any Google Calendars you have will always sync to the handheld calendar that you have specified as the default. This setting on the handheld:
Options > Advanced Options > Default Services > Calendar (CICAL)

If you want different Google Calendars to sync to different Handheld calendars, then you need to keep manually changing the default handheld calendar in between syncs.

But can't other people have a list of various calendars?

If it's a case that you are unable to have more then one calendar then that is a major flaw in either google calendar or blackberry

It's a shortcoming of the Google Sync app.
If it's really that big a deal for you, then go complain to Google.

Yes, you can only sync your default calendar, but you can also sync other sub-calendars that you have selected from within that default account. Make sure you have the latest version on Google Sync. I'm running 0.5.13

It appears that isn't the case though, others can view more then one calendar and I do have the latest Google Sync installed. Appears to be more of a blackberry problem

OK, here's what I'm saying:

Let's say your Google Calendar has two different calendars.
We'll call them "GooWork" and "GooPersonal"

Now let's say your BlackBerry has two calendars.
We'll call them "BBWork" and "BBPersonal"

On your device you have a default calendar. You choose whichever calendar you want to be default, by changing this setting:
Options > Advanced Options > Default Services > Calendar (CICAL) =
For the purpose of this example, we'll say that your default handheld calendar is "BBWork"

Now, you install Google Sync. Google sync will only sync with your default handheld calendar... in this case "BBWork".
If you choose to sync both calendars (GooWork and GooPersonal) in the Google Sync app, they will BOTH sync to the "BBWork" calendar on the handheld.

You cannot use Google Sync to do this:
Sync GooWork to BBWork
and
Sync GooPersonal to BBPersonal

This is a limitation of Google Sync, not the device.

I sync my wifes google calendar as well as my google calendar with my BB calendar. If you have two different google calendars make sure you set it up in Google calendars to have permission to view the other calendar, if so you can sync that calendar to your blackberry along with your calendar. This will sync to your one default calendar on your berry but pull in both items on both calendars into your one berry calendar.

Hope this clears up the confusion, it can be done.

This is exactly what I've been saying in this thread all along.

Firstly, many thanks for replying.

I completely get what you said Penguin...........my problem is I can't do what Ctibbsaz can do with his google calendar and his wifes calendar.

I have two calendars that belong to me in google calendar, one called 'Personal' and the other called 'Work' ..........................both are fully readable and I'm able to make changes with both.

As you stated, I want both these calendars to sync with the one calendar I have on my blackberry so when I go into my blackberry calendar I see work and personal entries...........the same as what Ctibbsaz can do with his calendar and his wifes.........except I can't view any other calendars.........that's the problem.

While viewing your Google Calendar page in your computer's browser, select "add a friend's calendar". Then enter the email address and you can now view as many calendar's as you have Google accounts. PM me if you need more help with this.
