I have a Curve 8310 OS 4.5. I recently purchased a Bold and returned it because I tested it against my Mother's Curve (again 8310 OS 4.5) and my sisters 8800 OS 4.2. They beat it loading web pages, and beat it badly. The Bold also has the added benefit of 3G with both the Curve and 8800 don't have.
When I went to return it I checked out the Tour at the store and noticed the same browser configuration perameters as the Bold. The browser looks very similar to the Bold's. I sat there with my old Curve and beat the new Tour in loading web pages. I can also see the pages better on the old Curve - even when I set the font to it's largest setting on the new one. My font on my Curve is 10 - and it was clearer and bigger than the Bold set on 14.
Now I am just depressed and grief stricken (no joke)... I can't upgrade. It appears they are tyring to get more content on a page - thus there is more data to load, thus it will require more resources from the phone and suck up more bandwidth from the network. A losing scenario. You know if I wanted my phone to look like a computer, I would buy a netbook. You are NEVER going to be able to see an entire webpage, or even column of a webpage on a screen as small as a BB. I have no idea where they are going here... but I can't come along - thus my grief strciken state...
Why would they do this??? they have to know it's slower...
Has anybody else noticed this??? I can't be alone here...
