Default BPS on Domain controler

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
Ive searched the forum as well as the web, but I can't seem to find a clear answer to my question.
Can BPS be installed on a domain controller and support 3-5 users without causing any damage?
I've read suggestions that say to add additional machine which will have the BPS on, but that is not an option cause we don't have a spare machine.

Thanks in advance for your answers

BPS can be installed on a DC, but I would not do it.

Can you run a VM on that machine at least?

I can try. The domain controler also acts as exchange server, so I think that adding anything on it might cause delays.
I really dont have that much experince with managing BES and frankly, I am just doing this to help our IT guy..but thanks for your help

BPS is supported on SBS 2003 which would be similar to what you are doing.

But if BPS needs to be restarted, you have to reboot everything.
At least with a VM you can just restart it.
For 5 users should not be too bad on resources.

Thanks for the reply. How often or in which instances does BPS needs to be restarted? I'll speak with the IT guy about the VM and see if that is doable.

I had a SBE (nearly the same as BPS) on a Windows 2003 SBS DC, Dual Core PIV, 2.8Ghz, 2GB Ram. 8 Users with Exchange, file and print sharing, 4 Users on the BPS.
I never had any problem during a period of 3 years, and only needed to restart the server when doing an upgrade of the Blackberry Software.

If you have an older/slower machine with small resources, better dont install in a VM.
For a VM you will also need another Windows Server license.

Was this installed on a VM or directly onto the SBS?

No virtualization. All on the same box in one OS.
