Yes, messages are generally held for delivery. JiveTalk survives intermittent reception very well because of this.

There may be limitations. For example, I think they may still be lost if you quit the application before they get sent. Or things like logging off-and-on the network after the messages got entered, and before they managed to get transmitted.... Or maybe it's more well designed than I think.

I have not done any tests, but you can try two IM accounts, and test some test cases, by turning off the BlackBerry radio while using JiveTalk (this simulates loss of reception)

I just installed JiveTalk and this thing is a champ. Uninstalled RIM Aim and GTalk and all the other chat stuff. Too bad it doesn't do BB messenger...yet.

I have a question. Say for instance a buddy sends me a link, I don't think I have the ability to click on that link. Is there a way to do this?

I have never had a problem with that,as it's not that difficult to just hit menu-select text...-and just copy and paste my stuff. Jivetalk is definitely superior, even to the newer mundu IM or im+. That's my opinion at least

in the Alert section of preference, I have Enabled Alert Profile For Sent IM, LED Alert Color set to Yellow. When the LED supposed to change to Yellow? Is it when someone send me a msg? I didn't see it change to Yellow. If not, what is it? and how can I set up the LED change for receiving new msg?

Thanks!

Thanks for all the info!

I've been using JiveTalk for about 4 days now...I was sold on it within the first 15 minutes.

I'm still under trial version, though...I'm being fair and weighing all the AIM software options before I buy. I'm pretty sure JiveTalk is here to say, though.

even works on my BES 8830 I have and still have BIS but webmessenger quit connecting and a hand full of others won't connect but BeeJive does.
guess I will pony up and skip the free crap. Hopefully my IT wont try to block the connection. I can't complain about the BES because the mail is a lot better/faster then my BIS exchange connection.

[QUOTE=Mark Rejhon;706336][*]Custom color LED notification - IM+ (v5 on OS4.2) blinks my incoming message notifications in blue color, so I know it's an incoming instant message rather than an email. 71XX and 8XXX BlackBerries have multicolor LED's, so applications need to use custom LED colors more often - take advantage of this cool BlackBerry feature. It could function concurrently with the regular BlackBerry profiles system by running as a separate LED-only notifier code built into JiveTalk, with a hardcoded 1 second delay, so that the custom color flash comes 1 second after the regular BlackBerry notification's red light flash (handled by BlackBerry OS).

There is an option to blink different color leds on the latest version of jive talk
Go to preferences and than select alerts. U can change the color of the flashing led.

Yea having the LED flash purple or white is more unique I think, since I typically use BlueTooth and get emails quite often Blue and Red were out, I used Green for a while but decided to change it purple because it's different then the normal LEDs I see, since Green is for the battery by default.

Been using JiveTalk for months now can't beat it!

I use the white LED for JT. I have one issue with it, though. If I receive a message in JT and it begins to flash white, and then I receive another email/pin/BBMessenger message, when I read the JT message the LED will continue to flash white until I read the newest email/pin/bbm message. Kind of annoying...Still can't beat JiveTalk.

I used BeeJiveIM (Jivetalk) and like it but I didn't feel like paying for it since I don't use it that much.

If you want a good app but don't want to pay I highly recommend Instango. Since I can't post links yet, it is instango . com

JiveTalk is still the best and worth the money, IMO.

Too bad BJ font and UI options are not as customizeable as those of WM. In due time, I suppose. The addition of a chat style sans the handle/account utilizing colored message text only would be welcome. Otherwise, BJ is the closest thing to the simple, lightweight usefulness of Miranda IM on Windows for BB devices.

Not to mention the most obvious shortcoming prevalant in all mobile IM clients for BB devices: Support for the most popular instant messaging service in the world in Tencent QQ.

Question

It appears that Beejive proxies your IM traffic . Is it possible to get the proxy component and run it on a system I control? If not, can anyone recommend a proxy-less/open-proxy IM client?

Thanks!
