Default Wireless Software Updates

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to push out an update to my users. All users are at the same version software, and have the same phone. I followed the steps in the administration guide, and attempted to send the update to my phone as a test. I applied the software configuration to my user, and I received “Application downloads or admin changes require device to reboot” message, and the device rebooted. Then nothing happened, in the deployment job tasks list it shows the job as failed.

DETAILS: the Result of last attempt: Available upgrade rejected

I checked the event logs on the device and server and found no more information.

Please Help…

BES Version: 5.0.1.58
Blackberry: Tour 9630
Current Version: 4.7.1.61 (platform 4.1.0.75)
Update chosen: 5.0.0.975(Platform 4.2.0.424)

Assuming you followed the correct steps, the details say it all. What software is this? Have you searched to see what steps the vendor has suggested for this update? What are the specific requirements on the device that this update require? You may not be compliant with their requirements. Also, you could try to remove the software from a test device first and then push the update and see if it installs cleanly.

You have given me the OS for your device, but have not answered any of the other items.

OTASL is not worth making work IMO.

Do a manual upgrade to upgrade the OS of the device.

Update:

I now sent the wireless update to three identical phones, only one received the update and updated correctly. The other two did not, so this would lead me to think it is a device issue, and not a BES issue.

Here is the Event Viewer log entries on the devices that failed. It posted two entries

a net.rim.otaupgrade - OTAU:poke
S15553505 B15
duplicateB13;S15553505 B15 - 1/13 15:33:16

a net.rim.otaupgrade - OTAU:status
S15553505 B15
C:2 D:5 - 1/13 15:33:16

Can anyone help with this problem?

Is the user accepting and performing the upgrade?
Is there enough free device memory on the user's handheld to support the upgrade?
Does the user's handheld have a carrier approved source version of the OS?

All you can do as the BES admin is make the upgrade request on behalf of the user. You can't really force it on the handheld. The user needs to intervene and do some manual steps on their end.

Yes, I checked to make sure before I sent the update.

All phones are identical model and software version, on the same carrier.
