I am a developer of the android phones and with android we basically have are choice between java or c program either way. The code runs on a dalvik VM. When writing apps for an android based phone they are usually copied over to the device in the format/extension of .apk which is basically a jar file that has the .dex VM code and other files in it. Equivalent to a jar file.
I don't currently have a blackberry but I plan on getting one maybe.
I was curious on developing for the blackberry phone and what languages you are tied to / what file extensions an app comes in ...etc
Is it true that apps are going to have to be written in java or c for a blackberry or is their other developing languages supported?
I am also wondering about what the normal file extensions of an app are?
I have heard blackberry has their own extension .COD and their are others .JAD ,...etc
I am assuming the IDE or developing environment are the same/simalar to the android developing I have done.
Basically thru an eclipse IDE , a eclipse plugin , and a android SDK install package. Assuming the only difference is instead of the android package I download an install/setup the RIM component SDK install package.
