Default Hot to convert video for 8320 (sticky candidate)

Please Login to Remove!

Could we make a sticky on how to convert videos to the best format and size for the 8320? It seems Desktop Manager 4.3 no longer includes Roxio Media manager right?

We need something like "The best format to convert video to for the 8320 is __________ and the ideal size is ____. By converting you can typicall get a movie ___ size. Try these programs to convert the video ____."

Can anyone help fill in the blanks?

BlackBerry - Desktop Software - BlackBerry Desktop Software at BlackBerry.com should include 4.3 with Roxio, DL size should be 330mb.

I'm running 4.3 with roxio.

just reinstall DM to get Roxio on there. It proves the easiest and will convert the file for the blackberry. Roxio is included so you dont have to worry about bit rates or aspect ratios. You wanted information on what was possible, as i a sticky, i was merely showing you the information is already here on the site.

No, I wan to know the BEST way to do it. I have no idea which format will produce the smallest file... and why would I want to use any other?

best in what way? the smallest file will generally be the worst in quality. personally, using either roxio's default conversion, or mencoder, or BBvideo convert, it cuts a 2 hour movie to about 280-300mb. you can alter the settings for video quality and audio to get that down but you will be sacrificing quality. avi is the common format, though obviously the device can handle many different types.
