Is there a shortcut/hotkey for actually closing applications? I find it tedious to go to the menu and even hit "c" or "e" to get to the prompt.

Default Holding Call button doesn't open Addy book

WHY!!!???

Just hold the call button. I don't mean press it once, I mean hold it for 2 second and see what I mean. It's a built in shortcut. Use it
Just opens the part of the addy book for phone #s. I'm saying that holding it down will not allow u to see someones address or anything else. just phone #s

Not true.

Use the shortcut I said and you will get a list of all the contacts in your address book. If you simply click on one of them it will give you a list of phone numbers. But if you hit MENU>VIEW you can see their address as well.

In other words, it adds all of ONE extra step to see their address vs. the standard way of getting into the address book, while at the same time gives you a reason to hide the address book icon and clean up your screen a little.

So it still does what you're looking for, but ultimately comes down to personal preference.

Mine: I prefer less icons if at all possible.

It does eliminate a LOT of icons that way.

Speed dials will still work. Just press and hold the key for speed dial. Tap for the shortcut. It is a hybrid, I think, best of both worlds, sort of.

Default Lock Short Cut

To lock an 8310 you must hold Alt and Enter. BUT first you must go into options....language and turn off "use input language shortcut. This uses the same keys. Once that is off you will be able to lock your blackberry.

Cheers,
Brendan

Thanks Keith, welcome to the BBForums.

You can also lock it with homescreen shorts, and simply pressing the letter K.

Lightbulb deleted logs and messages

Well I never! I was just about to post a message on here asking if anyone could answer why my SMS's and certain emails (especially ones with attachments), along with my call history would get deleted - I guess this answers it.

Will just have to wait and see if it still continues now that I know to ensure the apps are closed. Does anybody know if there is a screen (or 3rd party app) that can tell me what apps are running and how much mem is available -simular to task manager in windows.

Cheers,

Unhappy New Curve 8310 - Standby mode never comes!

Don't know what I may have done, but whereras the screen turned off and the unit went into standby after 20 secs or so, it no longer does. Have only had the unit for a couple of weeks, and have loaded a fair amount of applications, so wondering if it's possibly a s'ware conflict??

It will go into standby when I holster it, but even though I have gone into Options; Screen/Keyboard; and then checked and modifed the "Backlight Timeout" it still never goes off. If I use the button at the top, it goes into standby for about 4 seconds and comes right back on...any ideas??

Thanks,

Linda T

Thanks so much for these! I've had my Curve for two months, but have yet to learn all these shortcuts. This thread should definitely be a sticky!
