Unhappy Enable Mass Storage Mode

Please Login to Remove!

8310 Curve with 4.5.0.52 from the sticky above

Everything seems to be working fine. Software update process automatically backed everything up & properly restored after the new software was installed. Only issue I'm having so far is the Media Manager. I'm trying to move some small jpgs, but I keep getting a note that "Mass Storage" needs to be enabled. I don't have a media card, but there is still over 20MB free on the phone itself. I moved personal pics on there before. Any idea why the new version won't let me?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8320/4.5.0.42 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

You will need a micro SD to have the option available.

I had the same problem, but once I inserted the card, everythingz just fine.

That's a bummer. I hate to buy a card just to move a couple of small family pics, especially when I have over 20 MB free on the phone. Some of the pics I moved before the upgrade are still on there. I just can't move any new ones.

Try emailing them to your BB and saving the attachment. I think I remember doing that a few times before I got my memory card. I know it's not what you want but might be a good workaround for now?

Also found out that BB won't even let me take pictures now without adding an SD card. REALLY frustrating. Is this a bug? Surely they wouldn't release an OS that makes you buy additional storage just to use the standard features???

UPDATE: Exact error when I try to take a picture is "File system full."

My status screen shows Free File = 15,488,543 Bytes.

You should be able to use the media manager component of Desktop Manager to move files to your device's internal memory. Drag and drop outside of the media manager is only good for moving stuff to the media card.

You may wish to check your settings for your camera. It may be pointing to the media card for storage. You can change this back to internal storage however. Video MUST have a media card and cannot use internal memory.

I am using the media manager. It just won't work. I also checked my BB settings again. Media card support is currently off (although I've tried with it ON as well). Camera settings show that it is storing to internal memory. Still get "file system full" every time I take a picture.

Worked fine on the old OS (4.2). It has to be something in 4.5 . . . . .

I believe the device has a built-in limit to media files that can be stored. Sounds like you hit it.

Media > Menu Button > Options

My 8830 is set for 12MB, but I can click on it and increase to 15MB....

Yes, I am a bad person. From the time I read the post and began to respond I got a call and then hit Submit.

Sorry to clog up your day....I will endeavor to do better.

Good grief chill. That has been done to anyone on here who's been on for more than a week. Take it as it was intended.... good natured ribbing.

Now that I've found it, I can point you to a thread where someone did the very same thing to me, and how I reacted ;)

Thumbs up

Thanks guys. That did it! I knew there had to be a setting buried somewhere that I was missing.
