Default 8310 from at&t can't send sms

Please Login to Remove!

Please someone can tell me how can I send a sms with my 8310 (at&t)
I don't find the option to send a sms, only find to send a email or a instant message (this last option is not sms, becouse I need to put a email, etc)

I flash the phone with Device manager and the phone still without the option...

Welcome to the forums.

Go to your messages folder, press the menu key, select compose SMS text. If that option is missing, try removing the battery for about 30 seconds and trying again.

For mine with OS 4.5 I click on messages, then on the date bar, and it brings up options for email pin place call mms or sms.

This is with 8310 and att.

Maybe also check settings> options>sms to make sure everything is set up right

Thanks for the welcome..I check enter in the message folder, then press the (.. ) "menu" key and a many options apear in the screen : -help

-compose email
-compose PIN
-place call
-instant message
_______________
etc

but there isn't a compose sms... I try what you say jsconyers remove the battery 30 sec and try again but the option still mssing.. And I also check the sms options but It's all ok (as I know), and there isn't a "not show sms" option.

Any other idea?

Where did you get the device? Did you receive it second hand?

Is the device connected to a Blackberry server? Do you get work email on your device?

Go to Options > Security Options > General Settings. At the bottom, what does it say next to IT Policy?

The phone is from a costumer, I think isn't conected to a blackberry server, Im pretty sure but I don't know exactly.The costumer don't get work email on his device.. this is the IT Policy: Test - SMB

Yes, there is an IT policy on the device, most likely it is blocking SMS.

Search for IT Policy Removal. There may be a sticky in one of the forums for this or it may be part of BlackberryFAQ.com.

the procedure for it policy does not remove anything from this phone
it has 4.5 sw version.

is there any other way to remove policy?
