Default Tmo IM covered under dataplan or extra?

Please Login to Remove!

Just curious if using the IM hits your as a text charge or is it covered under the unlimited data plan?

Thanks,

I believe I read somewhere else (another thread here) that the new IM apps use data. I know the IM apps on the older BlackBerries would use SMS Messages. Someone else will chime in soon...

Hmm,

It looks just like the google talk app I was using for my 8700... and that used data. I guess just because it looks the same doesnt mean anything... heh.

I sure hope it doesn't us SMS. I have a Verichat license but it stinks. I like the built in ones much better.

On the 8320 the IM apps are definitely data. Are they working?

I was able to get on Windows Live Messenger with it. It's not as good as jivetalk, but it seems to work and is free.

I know I asked last night about the OZ Messenger APP and that it uses SMS Texts for the messages.. So then i was told to get JiveTalk because it uses Data..

As for the new Curve I don't know I haven't gotten it yet.

Default Yahoo IM

I use Yahoo IM on my 7105t and it's treated as data.

All the new IM programs for the 8320 and 8800 provided by Tmobile use data only. Directly from the update on Tmobile News.
