Default Slow app starting 9800

When I start apps from my home screen its a good 3-5 seconds before the app comes up. It just stays with the icon selected and is otherwise unresponsive. My phone has only been doing this for maybe a couple months. Any idea what the problem could be?

In probably an unrelated matter, I have downloaded a couple of BB's gifts on app world, but they don't show up anywhere in my app list. They show as being installed (nobex, bejewelled) but I can't find an icon to make it go.

First question: A 3-5 second start isn't that unreasonable, considering it is a handheld device, limited memory and a "not that fast" processor.

You could try freeing memory by deleting any unused apps (see the FAQ for an article on maximizing memory) and you could also try a battery pull.

Send question: Check the "Download" folder, "Applications" folder or the "Games" folder. If they were BB 9800 / OS 6 compatible, they should be in one of those.

Thanks, I found all my downloaded apps. I had them on my machine before, but had the icons set to hidden.

On the first issue. I've had my Torch for a year, it seems that only recently has it been really slow. I have QuickPull set to reset the device every night, which I think has helped but it still seems slower to me.

I'm thinking that maybe some apps are running in the background. Are there any tools that can be used to determine what apps are running on your device at a given time?

Apps in the background eat memory and could cause it. Check the FAQ for an article on "Maximize Battery Life". I think that is where it is.

Open the menu and select switch application. That will show you running applications, but I'm not certain there might not be apps set to run in the background that don't show. My advice is check the options setting in each third-party app and see how they are set, and switch all to not run in the background. Then test for a while.
