RIM told me they had maintenance on the BlackBerry Infrastructure from 02:00 through 06:00 AM ET. They did not go into any details. I'm still curious why I was not notified prior, though.

Default Sticky?

Any of the mods up for making a sticky Service Outage thread? It'd be nice to be able to go to one place every time I was stuck with edge or gprs for no apparent reason.

It would quickly become polluted with "Why is my BB stuck on GPRS" and "What carrier should I get" questions....

Is everyone's EDGE coverage back? Mine has been down and stuck on GPRS since yesterday. I'm in the NYC area BTW.

Was on the phone with T-Mobile for about an hour and they couldn't figure out why, luckily I found the answer here.

EDGE is back, at least in central and southern NJ. It was fine since early yesterday,

Did you try popping out the battery?

Mine is back on EDGE since yesterday AM. I woke up yesterday morning and saw my BB without edge/EDGE/GSM/GPRS although the signal bar is full. After turning the thumbwheel a couple of times, it suddenly showed edge then EDGE and tons of emails came in. So I guess the service outage here in Canada (I'm in Toronto) happened in the early AM hours of Saturday.

Yep, popped out the battery, popped out the SIM, T-Mobile resent the service books, tried re-registering onto the T-Mobile network, pretty much everything T-Mobile tech support could come up with. I can send texts, e-mails and use the internet browser but just using the GPRS connection. I have seen "edge" or "EDGE" since Friday at about 1:00am.

All BB's are routed through the RIM infrastructure. Considering this technology and methodology has been certified and used by the NSA and various other security-oriented government agencies, I'd say that the security involved is not what you'd consider 'low'. Perhaps off-site redundancy would be something to question, but not security.

Isn't RIM at all concerned about security?
Oh my...
