Dallas (19 June, 2007) -- BEIKS LLC, the world leader in mobile language and reference solutions, today announced the new major release of its popular LexSpell spelling checker for BlackBerry® handsets from Research In Motion (Nasdaq: RIM).
When installed, the spellchecker allows for quick, easy and reliable proofing of outgoing emails or other text.
LexSpell installs on a BlackBerry handset and does not rely on server components or network coverage to perform its functions. It utilizes a proofing technology and lexical databases developed over 10 years, and used by tens of millions of people around the world in desktop, server and mobile applications.
Functionality-wise, the spellchecker offers the standard features one would expect and be familiar with from a desktop equivalent, including seamless integration into most text entry applications on the handset such as email and MemoPad. Users also have the ability to simply click “Spellcheck & Send” from the standard and intuitive interface that will highlight unrecognized words and includes a replacement suggestion list with the ability to expand the stock database with new words. It comes with an editor for user-added vocabulary and more.
The newly version adds support for multiple word lists, email subject proofing, immediate email submission upon spell check completion, better configuration, support for the BlackBerry 8800 series devices with OS 4.2.1 and finally some lexical and interface improvements.
Word lists for major Latin based languages such as English, German, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese are immediately available at no additional cost.
The application's licensing model for individual users is best described as "donationware": the downloadable distributive installs a fully functional, unlimited version in which users are only invited, but not anyhow required or forced to, make a purchase in order to use.
Enterprise licenses start at $4.95 per copy for 100 installed copies and go down from there.
BEIKS reserves the right to change the distribution model and registration fee at any given time and without prior notice.
LexSpell is available for immediate download directly to a BlackBerry handset via the mobile web site of the company
http://mobile.beiks.com.
The full product page can be found at the BEIKS site for the web at

LexSpell requires roughly 650 KB of free device memory (per language) and will run on any BlackBerry handset with OS version 4.0 or higher.
