Default Transferring data from BB Protect to Z10

Please Login to Remove!

I just bought a Z10 to replace a lost 9320. When I log in to Protect it says my data is stored. Can anyone tell me in detail the best way to use Protect to transfer my data from Protect to the Z10? I am not backed up to the Desktop software and I can't afford to lose my data.

That's not what BlackBerry Protect is designed for (It is with OS 7.x, but not with BB10). It was designed to aid in wiping your device if it has been lost or stolen, or aid in finding it. You can View your device location, play a sound (even with the device turned off), lock the device, wipe, or display a message.

Desktop Manager (Legacy devices) and Link (BlackBerry 10) are for backing up and restoring your device data, and switching devices.

If you haven't changed to your Z yet, you can perform a device switch using BB Link BlackBerry Link - BlackBerry 10 Smartphone to Computer Sync - US connect your device after installing the software. After connecting, you will see an error message advising the user that this device isn't supported (9320), but will give you the option of porting your information to any BlackBerry 10 device.

Actually, on 10.2 you get the chance to transfer an old backup from a legacy device to your new one. Not sure if it works on 10.1

Thanks for all the help guys but I am still trying to get the transfer done. I am from Guyana. My Z10 came with OS 10.0.9.2372. How do update to the latest 10.2 OS as my provider wont be offering this anytime soon. Can anyone advise how I can get 10.2 loaded and is it safe to do so other than from my provider?.

Preferably hang on until the carrier allows it, else you may lose some carrier support and device warranty. Depending on how you bought your device.

Before you do any updates why dont you first use the suggestions above to restore your data.
