I am also a regular listener. Artie is using a Verizon 8330 and has nothing but good things to say about it. Howard does not like the Curve's keyboard. Also I think he chose the Bold because it is supposed to be Rim's flagship device. Maybe Verizon should send him a Tour.

I've been listening to Howard everyday for the past 10 years and would agree that he is definately not a moron. He's had an illustrious career doing something he loves, which most people proably can't say.

That being said, Robin and Howard both complain about not being to get data service in the Sirius building, but Artie who is on Verizon can. What I find funny is that less than 15 blocks from the Sirius building is the AT&T NYC Headquarters, which has microcells on top of the facility...53rd and 10th avenue.

More than half the time users blame the machine when in fact users themselves are the problem. If Howard Stern was the one making comment, I would bet my money on the "moronic user usage" side.

Not sure what spotty cell coverage in an area has anything to do with a user not being able to use their device.

By the way, Howard just mentioned how he can't hold a call on his phone for more than two minutes.

I'm not saying that Stern is a moron but

Business sense
Chess skill and
Tech savvy

are 3 entirely different things. Proficiency in one or more doesn't guarantee anything in the rest.

Agree 100%. I know one expert Chess player who can't boil water, and a top-ranked heart surgeon who I would not trust to drive my car.

And we have one of the most negative BlackBerry bashers on the planet in this thread pretending to know what he's talking about.

Success at marketing yourself and a radio show does not equal techincal savvy, no more than being given access to the forum makes one an expert on the BlackBerry.

I learned a long time ago

"If the shoe fits, wear it.
A wise man will always try it on for a while first and see how comfortable it is.
Then, if it doesn't fit, throw it away. "

I doubt it was. I am sure JSanders knows you know how to boil water, and you're probably a good driver too.

Very profound, since I never said anything bad about you.

Whether Stern is a moron or not is irrelevant. My guess would be he acts like a moron because that is his radio persona and is what his significantly moronic audience expects.

The point is that people like him expect to be able to raise their voices and have people come running. Obnoxious maybe, but if it was up to me, I'd have someone on the plane to NY the same day with a half dozen of the latest phones for him to choose from.

The customer is always right, especially when he has an audience of 10 million.

So RIM has a golden opportunity to make Mr. Stern happy and have him praise their product and customer service to his audience. Usually you have to pay a lot of money for that kind of advertising...

I think the only way RIM will make him happy is if they switch him to Verizon.

Service has improved with AT&T the last few weeks but I'm typically dropping three to five calls a day (use about 90-120 minutes a day working hours). Down from the usual 15. Data speeds are still poor under 700k, sometimes under 300kbps.

Any of you guys that think Stern doesn't know his tech long time listeners?

Regards-Michael G.

I think he is pretty smart when it comes to tech. He always seems to have a lot of electronic gadgets.

Anybody can buy the latest electronic "bling". Or send an assistant out to get it. You can find morons everywhere with the latest and greatest gadgets, but many of them are clueless once they push the On button.

Stern was right. I love the blackberry bold, but it had by far the worst signal of any phone I've ever had. A $25 prepay piece of crap from China has better reception. Ironically the Bold is made in China isn't it?

It is not.

Look on the white sticker 'neath your battery. Where was yours made?
