Default Blackberries in Bangladesh (Grameen Phone)

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there.

Just left Canada to work over in Bangladesh for some time and thought I was smart by bringing along a few Blackberries, which includes 6230, 7230, 7100t and a 7100g. Now, they all work fine here, with Grameen Phone, the largest and best network in Bangladesh which runs on 900/1800 bands. However, when I try to access the "Message Services" page to set this up with a GPRS connection which Grameen currently conveniently supplies, I am left with a blank screen on all the above devices. When I talked to Grameen they said that the Blackberries don't allow them to access that page.

My question, "Am I missing something?"

Or ... am I up a creek without a Blackberry paddle?!

Thanks for your wonderful help. Appreciate it.

Default roaming agreement

As far as I know, there is no GPRS roaming agreement between Rogers and
this Grameen Phone.
Could you use your Internet browser?

Sorry, I should have clarified that these phones are unlocked and I have purchased a local Grameen SIM card for them. There is nothing to do with Rogers or T-Mobile anymore.

Do you have blackberry data plan on a local Grameen SIM card? Without it, all you can have is GSM (voice), not GPRS (data).

I have a data plan with Grameen Phone. However, I take it that you mean a special data plan when you say a "Blackberry data plan." Is that different than a normal data plan?

Sorry, I'm brand new to the Blackberries.

Thanks.

Yes, very different.
You need a specific Blackberry Data Plan in order to use e-mail, web and data features on a BlackBerry device.
If your carrier doesn't have a specific BB Data Plan, then you're pretty much out of luck.
