Default What a great way to start the day...Not!

Please Login to Remove!

This morning I did the unthinkable. My bb 9000 was all snug in it's leather holster charging. I removed it from the charger and went to attach it to my waste and missed my belt. From this point everything seemed slow motion. As it was falling, I remember thinking "oh crap"!!! I then watched it hit the kitchen floor and roll end over end into(can you guess?) a pet water dish. YIKES!! I immediately rescued it from the water dish, removed it from holster, yanked the battery, pulled the sim and media cards. It all happened in about 30 seconds. The device is now resting comfortably in a tupperware container on a bed of uncooked rice.

Fortunately I have a backup 8310, but I'm gonna miss 3g and wifi for a couple days while I hope the rice does it's thing. Sigh....

Oh no! I hate that slow motion thing that happens whenever you drop it. When a drunk girl fell into the ajoining wall of my bathroom stall, causing my phone on the toilet paper holder to go flying, I had the same slow motion sequence.

Best of luck, hope it dries!

Wirelessly posted (well lookie here!)

Leave it in the rice and in a dry warm place for I'd say at least 4-7 days before trying it out!
Best of luck!

Best. Reaction. Ever.

Most folks make the mistake of immediately trying to turn a wet BB on and use it. If yours is savable, it will be because of how quickly you took the proper steps.

Hehe, I had read the FAQ and previous owner horror stories so many times, the procedure was like a built in emergency drill. The only two things I am concerned about at this point are:

- The device was on when it took the swim
- The water damage indicator is solid red.

Hopefully, the water didn't seep too far into the device to cause any damage. From what I understand the 9000 is not an easy device to take apart so not sure if I wanna disassemble.

Thanks for everyones warm wishes.

I've heard of devices taking even worse punishment and being recovered to perfect working order. Fingers crossed!
