I know I will get slammed for this but TMobile needs to get the software update out to us! Even if all glitches are not addressed, at least there could be a patch or two that could address major flaws such as trackball interfering with incoming calls, automatic dimmer, delay with incoming calls, etc. One would assume that the IT manpower at TMobile could have an update out yesterday? Absolutely an incredible phone but get the update in our hands!
What risk?
All of the software is written by RIM. The carriers test it and release it at their own discretion. The Rogers version does correct some of your issues. The choice is yours.
The reason I have not applied the Rogers to my Cingular (unlocked TMO) 8100, is after reading all the new bugs it introduced. Particularly the green light being on all the time after a call. That thing is so damn bright, I have to put the phone on its face when charging because it bugs the hell out of me. The trackball has not reall been an issue for me, as I have a full MP3 as my ring tone, and unless I role it right at the beginning of the call, it will not ignore (silence it) anyhow.
I have to click it to send them to VM, which is OK with me for now.
