Default 8300 Policy

Please Login to Remove!

So since the 8300/Curve has come out who has created a policy to lock down some of its non business related functionality? The list below is what I’m looking to block using our current default policy and hope to start testing it on my device this week. Most of this is just web addons that ATT is trying to sell which the company doesn’t want to get charged for. There’s already been a large interest for the 8300 at my company so I want to make sure we have a policy in place first. FYI, I’m running 4.1 SP3 and Exchange 2003.

I cannot find anything to disable (or remove) the add-ons pushed from at&t, there is a policy setting for the camera and other email services. I also have tested a policy for the miniSD card and it's working good.

For now I just hide all the junk.

I don't have AT&T so this is just a shot in the dark but Can't you just remove the programs you don't want in the desktop manager?

Unless your talking 100's or 1000's of devices.

The items noted are not really applications but bookmarks to services offered by att.

They do not show up in DM or on the device application list.

Ixxx8217;d like to do this in a policy so therexxx8217;s a consistency and sometimes we donxxx8217;t physically get the device before provisioning them on BES. From what I just tested this morning there are a few policy settings which seem to take care of the majority of them. In case others are interested this is what Ixxx8217;ve found.
1. Camera
Camera Policy Group\Disable Camera - True
2. Streaming Music
Still in place
3. Shop Tunes
Browser Policy Group\Download Tunes URL - False
4. Shop Graphics
Browser Policy Group\Download Images URL - False
5. Shop Games

Just an update to this. The actual setting that removes most of these icons from the device is Device-Only Items>Enable WAP Config - False

Here's a list of what it removes:
3. Shop Tunes
4. Shop Graphics
5. Shop Games
6. Music Apps
7. Shop Multimedia
8. Shop Applications
9. Shop Themes
10. Community
11. Media Net
12. Shop Tones

ladydi - I'm a big MotoGP fan also. I went to the Laguna Seca race in 05.

by setting this policy do you impact the internal WAP browsing / application via MDS?
