Default 7250 as external modem

Please Login to Remove!

has anyone tried successfully using the 7250 as an external modem?

I tried following the post where it tells you how to configure it for each carrier, but it doesn't work.

I even tried using the voyageur software, but it won't detect my handset. not sure on how to change COM ports, which they recommended.

Thanks.

Could you please supply more info, i.e.(carrier, software being used for modem and such, location) the more info the better.

I connect with Verizon by using the USB port on my laptop. I downloaded the VZAccess Manager from the Verizon site, went thru setup and during setup you tell it what port to look for.

I do not use voyager and am sorry I can't be more helpful about your setup.

This will work only as long as you are running an OS prior to 4.1 since Verizon itself has not released the 4.1 OS for the 7250. I have tried it with both the Telstra and the Sprint 4.1 OS releases on my Verizon 7250 and have not been able to connect at all, however if I downgrade to 4.02 OS it works fine again. Since tethering is not that important to me I upgraded back to 4.1

I am on the verizon carrier. my software being used is 4.0.2.41

I read in a previous post that you can hook up the BB through the usb connecting it to the internet through the standard modem under phone and modem connections.

I called verizon and they say i have to purchase an additional 15 / month for the vzaccess data setup kit. I don't know what this is about. I downloaded the vzaccess as well, but it didn't have a choice for 7250 on the drop down, only the higher model. So don't even know if this will work with 7250.

http://www.blackberryforums.com/showthread.php?t=2019 this thread instructs on how to use BB as modem. Seems pretty simple, but still doesn't work.

I will try it again though.
