Default Virtual keyboard typing wrong letter?

Please Login to Remove!

I’ve noticed an issue with my new Torch and I wonder if it’s happening to everyone.

When using the virtual keyboard in either orientation (set to direct mode, predictive or corrective) it sometimes type the wrong letter. The preview of the letter pressed will be correct but the letter actually typed will be the letter to the right of the letter pressed. For instance if I type ‘t’ I will often get a ‘y’ instead even though the preview graphic showed that the ‘t’ was pressed.

I called AT&T tech support and they had not heard of this issue so I went back to the AT&T store. The sales person and I were able to duplicate the behavior on their demo Torch and another brand new one leaving me to believe this is a software issue.

Mine is running 6.0 build 278.

Is anyone else seeing this issue with their Torch?

Thanks in advance.

Ok, a different question.

Can anyone tell me that their phone does not do this? I'm wondering if it's worth having AT&T pull at several phones and test them all if it's not a software issue.

Thanks

My first one did this with numbers. Instead of trying to sort it out, I just traded it in for a new one right away. They were good about it.. no questions asked. My second one does not do this.

Mine does that with the letter, did not try it with the #'s. I am keeping mine just hoping an OS update will fix this. (Figure that I can live with, and also prefer the physical keypad anyways.)

Sorry to hear that it's not just a hardware problem with the ones sent to my local store. It really does seem like a software issue but there are at least a couple people who say they don't have the problem.

I prefer the real keyboard but sometimes the virtual is nice for a quick web search but the errors are so annoying I don't even try to use the virtual any longer.

BTW mine acts the exact same way with the numbers.
