Default Unable to access BES

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I have taken over administration of a server running BES 5.0.3. I have verified that the besadmin account is working in AD, and can log in using the username and password supplied to me. I have also verified that all services are starting with this account, and have updated to password for each service to ensure it is correct. I have also set the password in blackberry server configuration.

However, when I try to sign in to BES using active directory, it says the username, password, or domain is incorrect. I have taken a look at the AS log, but as I am faily new to BES adminstration, I am unsure how to proceed. The AS log seems abnormally larger (42mb/day), so I have attached a snippet of it. Although it seems to be the same all the way through, please let me know if you need more info.

Thanks

When you first set up BES, it has one administrator by default and it's not an AD user. It's simply admin and a password of your choosing. Once you're initially in, you can add more or assign AD users admin privileges. So it's perfectly normal for the BESAdmin account not to have access to the BAS. Ask for the admin password or use the previous BES Admin's username to log into the BAS.

Hi Guys,

I've managed to solve this issue.

In case other run into this, I googled random phrases from the log and stumble accross the is link:

btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/viewdocument.do?externalId=KB31879&sliceId=2&cmd=d isplayKC&docType=kc&noCount=true&ViewedDocsListHel per=com.kanisa.apps.common.BaseViewedDocsListHelpe rImpl

Restarted both services (BlackBerry Administration Service - Application Server and BlackBerry Administration Service - Native Code Container) resulted in their memory usage getting to the correct level and I can now log in.

Thanks

The port on the server hosting the BlackBerry Admnistration Service has not been opened correctly and the BlackBerry Administration Service - Administration Service is not able to connect to the port.

Please check this resolution:

Login to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server as the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Service Account, usually BESAdmin.

On the BlackBerry Enterprise Server open the BlackBerry Server Configuration Utility.

On the BlackBerry Administration Service - High Availability tab review the ports listed for each BlackBerry Administration Service component and identify the port listed within the log line.

When the affected component has been found check the Windows Task Manager to view memory usage of the relevant BlackBerry Administration Service process, either BAS-AS.exe or BAS-NCC.exe

If one of the processes, usually BAS-NCC, is below the required memory usage open the Windows Services console and restart the BlackBerry Administration Service - Application Server and BlackBerry Administration Service - Native Code Container services.

Monitor the Windows Task Manager to verify the two processes reach their required memory usage levels.
