Default BlackBerry Pearl 9105 outed

Please Login to Remove!

From Boy Genius:

Well, there it is: the BlackBerry Pearl 9105 complete with T9 keypad. The images, which were posted and subsequently removed from the Google Group id-blackberry-archive, show the phone as looking identical to the render we saw at the end of March. What’s particularly interesting to us is that even though the keypad is quite the departure from SureType, no changes appear to have been made to the configuration settings in Input Options when compared to the current Pearl and Pearl Flip line-up. When we last checked in with the 9105, word was going around that it was headed to Europe in May or June, but recently a few little birdies informed us that it will also be making an appearance Stateside. We’ll see.

BBC Click twitter:
"Blackberry announces its first 'n' Wifi handset - the small 'candybar' Pearl 3G smartphone. Launches in May." Included this picture (see attachment).

Blackberry.com (uk) also has this:
http://uk.blackberry.com/devices/ser...?navId=H0,C482
Ready for the "Blackberry Pearl 3G" (this is what it says in the navigation), no details bar Blackberry Pearl 9105 and a blank blackberry picture.

They are both the new pearl. One is the 9100 Pearl 2, and the other the 9105 Pearl 3G

Actually, the 9100 and 9105 are both called the Pearl 3G. It's the numbering that tells you whether it uses the original 2-letter condensed QWERTY keyboard (9100) or the 3-letter telephone keypad - also called T-9 keyboard - (9105).

There is no "Pearl 2" nomenclature related to the 91xx series anymore.

I know they are both 3G, and they are the 2nd pearl series, hence Pearl 2.
I merely said that relating to the naming of the subforums here.

Ah, I see.

Sorry about that.

I hadn't even noticed that the subforums were named that way.

If I recall, the Pearl Flip started out being called the Pearl 2 - maybe not by RIM (don't recall for sure), but definitely by some tech sites, so maybe that's why RIM did away with the whole "Pearl 2" thing this time around after it was called that for a few days.

what about the so much useful and famous BB keypad shortcuts? (like the ones for replying to a message, forwarding it and so on)

any of those survived the transition to the numeric keypad?

for me those shortcuts where one of the important thing which made BB so superior to other phones in therms of speed and easy of navigation, working with emails and so on...

also, are there still the famous BB charging connectors (not the microUSB that is)?
