Default BES Services hung

Please Login to Remove!

Every Monday our BES' (4.0 Exch2003) have their services restarted - one of the three has its services hang on restart. I have looked in the EV and cannot find what is causing the restart alot of Event ID26 followed by the hung service errors (Application popup: Service Control Manager : At least one service or driver failed during system startup. Use Event Viewer to examine the event log for details.
), the CTRL LOG shows the Health Check running and this ([30000] (12/26 10:26:31):{0x92C} Host \\127.0.0.1 - Dispatcher state: Stopped, PID=0
[30000] (12/26 10:26:31):{0x92C} Found unexpectedly terminated Dispatcher). Can't figure out what is causing this... Is it the Health Check?

Every time this happens we have to manually stop and start the services.

Thanks!

No errors at that time in that log file. I have DART working on it, but this is getting old!!!! Users are pissed due to delayed mail.

We had a problem with symantec scanning mail on our exchange 2003 server and having to restart that and the Bes 4.0 weekly, our exchange guys are currently looking for another program to do the mail scanning. I'd just thought I'd throw that out there. Not sure about the back history on your boxes.

Care to post some of the Dispatcher log from that timeframe? You'd could remove user specific lines.

it would be simpler to go to Symantec's web site and use thier knowledge base article describing what to ignore on an enxchange 2003 box when running Symantec.

Another package will not be any different, you NEED to ignore specific things on your Exchange box no matter what AV software you use.

If they have not already set up the appropriate ignores, quick as a bunny, do it NOW. We had our AV mis configured and were not ignoring the correct files and folders, and it caused some serious damage when it deleted a transaction log file it thought had a virus in it rather than just an e-mail in the transaction log file.

Good Luck!

Thanks T-Roy.

Out of curiosity does anyone else use DART? If so, could they elaborate on how they are different then regular support and if it is worth the money?
