Default BES Disaster Recovery

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone on the board setup a Disaster Recovery plan with any of their BES's yet?

Was asked to prep a 2009 plan for DR for the BES.

Thanks.

Look into NeverFail as a DR plan for the BES. They are the best.

Are you looking for DR or HA? ... or both?

What is your RTO? RPO?

DR only at this point.

RTO and RPO have not been defined either, am working on getting that information together from management.

Really need an RPO or RTO to make a reasonable recommendation.

Without more info I'd just go with a spare server somewhere else with documentation on how to do an install / configure just the production server. Time that would take: ~1 hour (as long as you have a good sql backup).

... would still love to hear what the RPO and RTO requirements are to come up with a real defined solution.

What is your recovery for your mail systems? Kinda need to know when they will be available and then model your BES environement. For now I have a duplicate BES environment at our offsite location. SQL batch job copies the BES DB to the DR SQL box every night. Basically a knife-edge environment until BES 5.0 is here. We test DR plans twice a year and I had this up and functioning in less then 30 minutes.

Neverfail is nice if you have the budget (and pipe)

hdawg, still trying to nail down management on that info so I can get an idea of what to work with.

jletendre, well the big problem right now is we are going to be moving over from Groupwise to Exchange before the end of the year, I hope to have the budget for someone like Neverfail, but it is way to early in the process at this point to even know.

Gota love management.

No other configuration file (and the same name also).
