Default Anyone been to The Bahamas recently?

Please Login to Remove!

T-Mobile says GPRS coverage there is "iffy".

Anyone have any recent experience there?

TIA

I go further down to the Virgin Islands and I have no issues whatsoever with my service.

In the Bahamas you have GPRS in Nassau and possibly Freeport. GPRS has just been rolled out in the Bahamas with blackberry service so that is why its probably consdered iffy.

In the Bahamas right now, although I have a CDMA BlackBerry some of my coworkers who are Bahamian have GSM/EDGE devices (8700g) from thier local telco. The island of New Providence (where Nassau is) has pretty decent coverage. Grand Bahama as well. But if you're going to any of of the less populated islands TDMA is your only reliable method of communication.

In fact GSM itself is quite immature down here, outages are frequent. Your biggest question is going to be which island you're going to.
