I have this technology on my laptop which is supposed to enable me to turn my computer into a hotspot and so when i am in a hotel, etc., I can connect my families 4 blackberry's. I connect them using the push button wifi setting but then it continually searches for an ip address but never finds one....any suggestions?

thanks,

Are you saying that this "technology" on your computer isn't finding the WiFi access point or that the BlackBerry devices are not finding the computer ad-hoc WiFi hotspot that the "technology" is creating?

And I'm just wondering why you wouldn't just connect the BlackBerry devices directly to the WiFi access point. ??

BlackBerry devices do not support ad-hoc connections at the present time. I find it interesting how you are able to connect to the laptop.

Just to verify, do any other wifi enabled devices connect properly and allow you to browse internet from the 'hotspot'?

The continual looking for an IP Address sounds like the computer is not properly assigning IP addresses to the devices to fully initiate the connection. If you can, try and assign static IP addresses to the devices and see if they connect then. This would eliminate the need for the computer to assign the address which sounds like where the problem is.
