Anyone have an updated list of compatible devices with bes 5.04 and as well as bes 10?

any BlackBerry Java device that supports the encryption method of your BES 4.x or 5.x will work. Some might not work if you dont update your device.xml on BES 4.x or your Proxy blocks the automatic update on BES 5.

I have read that pdf before on my search for device compatibility. I would assume that more recent BB will work in bes 10. But what is the oldest device that will work with bes 10 and what is the most recent device that will work with bes 5?

The only devices that work with BES 10 are the BB10 devices out now - the Z10, Q10 and Q5. No older devices will work with BES 10.

Any four digit device currently out or on the market (93xx, 98xx) will work on BES 5, but not on BES 10.
