When I'm composing an email or a text, sure type will suggest a letter or a list of words in a drop down menu. I think I'm supposed to be able to use the trackball to scroll down to the word I want so I don't have to finish typing the entire word. I can't do it though, the trackball turns but the highlight doesn't move to another word. After turning it for a while sometimes it will move the highlight to the next word but generally it doesn't so I have to continue typing the entire word. Occasionally it will move the highlight to the next word in the list and automatically insert it and then I have to delete the word and start over, it's really irritating. I tried making my trackball more sensitive and that didn't help. I've had my phone for a few months and it's always done this. Am I doing something wrong? Or is there something wrong with my phone?
[QUOTE=JSanders;1071866]That is not the way SureType works, you need to complete the typing of the word, then select your choice if needed.
I don't get it. Then why does the phone bring up a list of suggested words if I can't select one of them? That doesn't make sense to me. It'll do the same thing when I'm typing one letter, it'll bring up a menu that has both letters that are on the key and it automatically uses the first letter. I can't use the trackball to scroll down to the second letter so I have to use the backspace and then hit the key again and it'll use the second letter. It's the same thing with words. I guess I don't understand why it brings up the suggested words or letters if you can't select one of the suggestions to use. Seems useless to me. It would be great if I could scroll down and select a suggested word because the word I want is almost always there. But my trackball won't let me select anything so why bother with word or letter suggestions if you can't select them and insert them as you're typing?
That's Predictive Text. Turn it off. Options>Language>Input Options. Uncheck Predictive Input. Then just type. At the end of the word hit space, if it's not correct backspace and type the correct word.
The whole technique to Suretype is to type the whole word. Ignore everything else until you finish typing the word. Use the Setup Wizard and do the typing tutorial.
