Arrow 8100 and SIM Error

Since switching from the 8700 up to the Pearl, I've had almost daily issues where the SIM card is not recognized. I'm on Cingular and have never had this issue before. Is anyone else seeing this? I've tried putting a business card behind the battery case thinking that it might add a bit more pressure on the connection but this does not seem to help. We are about ready to begin mass deployment of this within our global team and it would be nice to know if this was just a bad device or if this is widespread.

Thanks!

Have you made sure that the SIM card door is locked into place?

mckinney... you had replied to my post earlier about me receiving error msgs (e.g. "Protocol Error") on my Pearl when I try to sens SMS. And suggested to upgrade to .69 OS.
The one thing I noticed is when I do pop my battery, my SIM card door is not firmly locked. Could this be an issue to your knowledge?

I had similar problem (error reading SIM) after upgrading from 7100 to perl. Going back to T-Mobile and getting SIM new card helped.

My SIM card did the same thing for a long time. I finally realized, you have to use your finger nail and some good force to slide the door shut and lock it. I thought I was going to break it when I was pushing on it, and then finally it locked into place. It's pretty snug now. It's not going anywhere.

I've used GSM devices for about 9 years now so am very familiar with the SIM card doors. So yes, have made well and sure that the door is securely locked into place. We will be getting another SIM card today and see if that makes a difference. I'm just curious how widespread of a problem this is since we will begin using this device as a global standard very soon (we're in about 20 countries).
