Default Deleting from Handheld & Server for Gmail on 8700G

Please Login to Remove!

I have 2 gmail accounts and I have been trying to delete my messages off my handheld and the server from my 8700g. Doesn't seem to work. Is there something I have to enable within gmail settings in order for this to become effective? I know there is a setting in there that says "When messages are accessed with POP". Gives you option to keep a copy in the inbox, archive gmail's copy, delete gmail's copy.

I want to be able to definitely archive certain messages. And obviously there are some messages in my email that I don't want on my blackberry because they are too big or just really old.

*I have BIS*

thanks

when you choose to delete "on mailbox and hanhdeld" it removes it only from Gmail's POP server - not your actual Gmail account itself

It's only possible by deleting on handheld, then logging in to Gmail in your internet browser and doing the delete there.

My Gmail account appears to reconcile if I choose Mailbox and Handheld.

Then please tell us about your settings, versions, etc. That may be helpful to all who are wanting this.

are your POP settings set up to leave a copy of the message in Gmail's inbox or archive it or delete it?

i'm guessing it's set to delete or archive

Yes this is something i figured out today. Basically using those 2 options of archive or delete makes the deletion of mailbox action active for the blackberry. If not it just stays in the inbox. I'm trying to figure out the best way for me to keep certain emails as well as be able to delete them from my handheld. Because obviously there are emails that I won't want on my handheld, but i'd want a hardcopy at home/server. Archive seems like a good method although its really scrambled and messy. If I chose the delete once accessed through POP method, does this mean that once I have downloaded all my emails to my phone via POP they will become deleted from the server? Or will they not be touched until I chose the delete from "mailbox & handheld" option? Because I might just choose the delete once being accessed via POP option in Gmail settings and just make sure I move the stuff I want to keep out of my trash. What methods are you guys using?
