Google maps for me.

BB Maps doesn't seem to work here in the Philippines, we're still third world. But we're working on it.

BB maps is a complete waste. It amazws me how RIM loads their BB's with this pitiful app. Google maps wins hands down.

I can use Google maps with one hand while driving, to check the volume of traffic ahead of me. Start the application, click 0 to triangulate my location, press Show Traffic, and I'm there. It's like living in the future.

Right now I prefer BBMaps. I can't seem to get Google Maps to work properly as it did a few versions ago.

Do you need anything not included with the 8830 (software or perifferals) to make the triangulation work?

Google maps will triangulate without any additional hardware (or support from Verizon). I did purchase a Freedom 2000 puck to use full gps. As you are probably aware, Verizon locks us out unless you purchase additional services.

My advice is try both. There's no problem, either, having both. Try each and see which works best for you in different situations.

For me, bb maps tracks better and updates faster when driving. And the local search is much faster, though there is less info. If I'm navigating from an airport to my hotel, for instance, I'll use bb maps. If I'm looking for a restaurant or something like that, I'm more likely to use Yahoo Go or Google Maps to search/research.

I use both. Google maps is good for finding a place if you don't know where it is. If I have the address, I prefer BB Maps. It seems to track better.

Good advice from all - use both and Windows Live Search too.

I loaded Google Maps today but can't find an option to make it work with the internal GPS on my 7100i with 4.1 OS

I use Google Maps, but I like how in BB Maps when you scroll, the names of the roads shift along so you can always read the road names.

I have an 8130 and I assume what I have on it is BB maps? If so, it hasn't been intuitive how to make it work for me. I get directions, and the map is too panned out. But once I zoom in, I don't seem to be able to move along the map. So I have like one zoomed screen, and then I would have to zoom out and move to zoom in to another part of the map. How do you move once you are zoomed in to see street names? Any help on this would be appreciated. thanks.
John

I just played with it again and this time the 4-6 next previous movement was obvious (wasn't at first!)

when i start BB maps, only green fields are displayed

what else do i have to do in order for it to work? RIM says it has maps for Moldova, i activated gprs on my sim, i have wi-fi connection...

why the map is not downloaded to my 8820?

If you are in Moldova, I have no idea what may be going on but at least try getting directions. In bb maps, go to menu, get directions, and put in an address where you are and somewhere to go to. In the US, it then downloads the verbal directions and provides a map.
