Anyone tried this yet? I know Exhange 2007 is still beta, just curious on the setup, ect.

We haven't tried it, we called RIM support and they could not give a definitive answer if BES 4.1 SP2 would support Exchange 2007. Does anyone have an answer?

If your implementing Exchange 2007 in a pre-existing 2003 Domain it will work although it is not offically supported by RIM. You will require the MAPI & CDO component from Microsoft.

Other then that the permissions for the BESAdmin account will work fine for Calendaring.

In regards to a NEW Exchange 2007 forest you can implement a reg hack to apply the permissions needed from a Domain level within Active Directory. As anyone that has been testing with 2007 all permissions have changed into Role Administration level, Microsoft left out a service account for RIM/Goodlink.

**Note: I can not comment on behalf of RIM as I am strictly an IT Administrator which likes to push customer products to their limits.

Can you tell what is the source of your info (any links?)

I was curious about that. Talk about a cheap, underhanded way of trying to position themselves in the wireless email market. They are apparently going about this the 'right' way this time around, though... I don't foresee them being punished for their actions, as they were with their OS and Browser and Instant Messaging, etc. RIM and Motorola/GoodLink may have a case in Europe, though. When Microsoft announced their 'send as' crippling, it just seemed rather suspect, at the very least.

Sure at at the same time here in london you couldn't move for seeing a billboard pimping WM5 and activesync, they literally bought up all of them....

Talked with a RIM rep at a DevConnections Exchange conference. Said support will be with 4.1 sp3 due out in February 2007, or about 90 days after Exchange 2007 shipped.

Uhm, Exchange 2007 (still in Beta) should not be considered to operate in a production environment until its release. So I don't see why anyone would want to bother install BES on it at this stage as the last thing I would want is to have sleepless nights over getting it to properly work. Plus keep in mind what it takes you to get it working now may not require you do the same on the production release of Exchange 2007.

Uhm, no one ever said anything about a production environment, as he was just inquiring about the configuration and setup. Considering Exchange 2006 is just two weeks from RTM, it's a fairly legit question. Volume release may be pushed back to late December or first of the year, but it's just around the corner.

...RIM has had plenty of time with the beta to make it compatible. It was feature complete a while back, if I'm not mistaken. They did a good job with Desktop Manager and Office 2007 (for the first time, RIM met a launch date with support), so it's somewhat disappointing they would miss the launch of an enterprise product by 2-3 months.

I'd love that reghack too. Manually adding Send As to each user is a bit, um, long.

RIM has planned for and now certified support of Exchange 2007 with BlackBerry Enterprise Server. This initiative involved an update in software to the following product release:

• BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange v4.1.3 The mode of full support and certification as it relates to compatibility with Exchange 2007. Please be advised that with this release, RIM has issued the software with all of the acceptance criteria being met, thus deeming the software certifiably compatible.
