Default BES Admin accepting meetings "on behalf of" rather than as the hand held user.

Please Login to Remove!

I am using Exchange 2007 SP1, BES 4.1.5. Correct permissions defined at org, server and AD level assigned.

If a BB user invites others to a meeting from a handheld, they recieve the notification that "Bes Admin account has forwarded your meeting request to additional recipients."

If an meeting request is accepted on the handheld, the meeting organiser recieves the notification that BES admin account has accepted the meeting request on behalf of the handheld user.

Does anyone know how to make this transparent?

Thanks in advance!

Suppose the question is, was this working normally on Exchange 2005?
Can only suggest, as we are not on 2007 yet...
1) Check the BES account permissions on the mailboxes, ie. the Security tab on ADUC. Send As permissions set etc. Also, does the SELF account have full access to the mailbox.

Grasping at straws really, but hopefully it will help point you in a direction.

This is a designed feature and has been talked about before with E2K7, do a search, there was a thread not that long ago that talked about this specifically and how to change the behavior if you so choose to do so.

Default Resolution

To resolve this I created a new Blackberry service account and reapplied the correct permissions as per KB02276 with additional steps from KB00075.

The old service account had full control to the domain object only, and who knows what other permissions assigned.

Its all working perfectly now. The "Sent on behalf of" is not standard behaviour.

This can be done by performing the following steps to set the option to false:
  1. Log on to the Microsoft Exchange server and launch the Exchange management shell
  2. Type get-mailboxcalendarsettings | Set-MailboxCalendarSettings -RemoveForwardedMeetingNotifications $True
Note: This affects the entire organization using Microsoft Exchange.

Greetings,

It seems to me that the above recommendation addresses the first part of the initial issue:
(If a BB user invites others to a meeting from a handheld, they recieve the notification that "Bes Admin account has forwarded your meeting request to additional recipients.")

It does not appear to have an inpact on the second part of the issue:
(If an meeting request is accepted on the handheld, the meeting organiser recieves the notification that BES admin account has accepted the meeting request on behalf of the handheld user.)

Does anyone have any suggestions on getting the "on behalf of" remove from meeting request responses? Is it possible, or is this an Exchange function that cannot be addressed?

Thanks!

Default Double check ...

...you have the best practice permissions for Bes Admin service account. Thats what was causing our issue.
