Default Urgent!!Downloading Cod file onto the device

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

We are trying to test our application on the RIM phone by downloading it from one server using internet. So what we did , we kept our "Testclient.cod" , "TestClient.jar" & "TestClient.jad" file in
"Webapps\Root\Test_Client\RIM" folder.
But the problem is it is not recognising the "cod" file as while downloading it is coming as ".zip" file.

Please let me know how I can fix it.

Thanx

Hi,

Actually all I want to know is why is it so that downloading the cod file from the net on the device being recognised as a Zip file. It works well on the emulator though.

if you only want to know this, here is the explanation (DB-00432):
Quote:
If an application contains more than 64 KB of data in the application or data space, it is divided into multiple COD files known as sibling COD files. These sibling COD files are then packaged in a parent COD file that is a zip archive with the COD extension.
if you want to get it installed look what btafel said and see the cahpter about deploying in the JDE developer guide

You don't download .cod file, you need to download .jad file. .cod file is for desktop install

I have no idea if I'm doing this the "right" way or not, but it works for me. I rename the .COD file to .ZIP (on my local machine) and extract the individual .COD files to my server, along with the .JAD file. The URL for OTA install then simply points to the .JAD file.

I have set the proper MIME types, but I cannot just plop the main COD file onto my server and have it work with the JAD.

Sounds like you need to configure the IIS mime types. Information here:
