I have a 8900 which when connected to wall adapter or usb it shows the charging icon but it does not charge. When connected to the pc via usb i can connect to desktop manager sync, backup, restore. I have tried different batteries, usb cable and wall chargers. This phone has no warranty.
Any solution?
Pull the battery. Get a magnifying glass and a penlight, and look inside the Usb plug. Any corrosion? Bent pins? For corrosion you can try a wooden matchstick. I wouldn't try any metal in there. Also check for corrosion/bent pins for the battery contacts Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile
I was going to suggest a hard reset, but then you've tried different batteries and so you've in effect done a battery pull. But how about doing a battery pull again, with the power on, and give it a good minute or two before you reinstall the battery. Do it for three minutes just for good measure.
You could try an OS resintall but that's just a guess and I don't know if it has even the possibility of being a fix. But it isn't going to hurt. Just do a full backup beforehand. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile
aiharkness tried your suggestions with no luck and now the battery is dead need to get it charged some how. I did previously try reinstalling the OS but that did not work. Without the battery in if I pug the charger or the USB cable the red light does not even come on, put a working battery in and it comes on.
