BlackBerry Desktop Manager initializes and starts on its own every time I start/boot my laptop (even though the BlackBerry is not connected by USB cable). Is there a setting in Desktop Manager to disable this? I've looked for one. What so obvious am I overlooking? And, thanks!

I don't see a way to do it in version 6, but maybe I'm missing something. Unless someone comes along and points the way, run the installer again and select the option to change the settings/configuration or whatever the wording, and select the option to not start desktop manager with windows.

Thanks. I might run the installer again. Sure is a bloated application at over 50 megabytes to not have an option for this. Thanks again Ira.

Start button - run - type msconfig - ok
startup tab
uncheck desktop manager
ok
exit without restart

Thanks everyone. I chose to run the BlackBerry CD, clicked on Change Settings or some such, then unchecked the box for Run Desktop Manager at Startup. Ira's way worked before I saw the post suggesting Run > msconfig etc. Sure is good to have a place where this old bofh can get good answers. Best regards,

Removing from the starup folder makes more sense. I have a vague memory though of people complaining about it somehow being added back after being removed. Or maybe it was the other way around, or maybe I remember the whole thing wrong. At any rate, if all is well, great.
