Question 9630 or 9700?

Please Login to Remove!

I know you OG's hate the track-ball over your click-wheel, so call me a new-f4g but, you should understand my juxtaposition:

What is greater about the touch-pad Bold that you would take it over the track-ball Tour?

Either one of these will be my next BB so argue away! Just don't get into a flame-war because I kinda need my thread alive to learn anything from it.

First issue to consider network and carrier. Based on phone alone, I would easily pick the trackpad, 9700. I choose the 9650 over both due to increased memory

Disregard carrier, I have a 9630 on T-Mobile right now. The 9630 is a quad-band. Unfortunately for me, it was defective when I received it. It only can send/receive text messages. No audio at all. Not through the ear-piece, not through the headset and it won't even connect to a bluetooth device.

I've accepted the fact I paid [x] amount of money for a defective device so now I'm not going to screw around.

Do I get a 9700 with a finicky touchpad that my jaded-a$$ doesn't (currently) like? Or do I get another 9630 in working condition?

The trackpad doesn't get dirty and stop working from carrying it in your pocket like the trackball does and it isn't as finicky either.

The 9630 will not get 3G on T-Mo because it doesn't have their specific 3G frequencies. If 3G is important to you, then you need a T-Mo 9700 because the ATT version also does not have the T-MO 3G frequencies.

The trackpad on my 9650 has been rock-solid. The trackball on my Tour needed to be replaced 3 times in less than a year. The pad is a HUGE improvement over the ball.

Definitely get the 9700 instead of another 9630. It's made for T-Mobile while the Tour is really a CDMA device with GSM capabilities. Support for a 9700 through T-Mobile will be possible. Call them with Tour issues and they'll just hang up the phone. They didn't sell it, they don't support it.

do you still use a ball mouse on a PC?

We ditched them a few years ago and went with optical mice, no more cleaning dirty wheels.

Same goes for a

Agree with you, but there are some people out there still like the trackpad.
