Default Hello everyone -- Like your Priv, don't like it, etc.

Please Login to Remove!

Haven't been around in a long time and just wanted to say hello...I have a new Priv on the way and just wanted to see if people like, don't like, etc. I also noticed there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity here regarding the Priv -- just curious -- are there not that many Priv users in general? Here?

Just looking to see if I made a good choice, what's new and exciting with BB, and so on. Thanks in advance.

I've just started warming to the idea of Android + BlackBerry. Bear in mind this is coming from a guy using a 9370 and BB7.1 as a secondary device (iPhone is my primary). Originally I thought, "Android??? Hell no!! If I wanted Android I'd get a Samsung or Motorola phone!" Now, however, I'm rethinking my anti-BlackBerry/Android prejudice. I'm pretty much platform-agnostic. I'll use whatever works best for me. I have no allegiance to any brand or company. The reason I used BlackBerry for so long was that it was simply the best for me. It worked the way I did and it accomplished all the things I needed to get done. Until it stopped. BlackBerry didn't change. I did. And BlackBerry didn't change with me. So the virtues of a rock solid and intractable system became inflexible and unable to keep up with my new life. BB10 went a long way towards addressing these issues for me, but I had already made the move to an iPhone and the darn thing worked perfectly for me. I'm a lifelong Mac user and my primary email address is an iCloud account. So naturally iOS is going to integrate best with the services I use. This isn't news.

I've never gotten over my BlackBerry addiction. That's why I have an old school 9730 to take with me when I feel like leaving my iPhone at home. It just feels right - like an old friend. No extraneous apps, and sometimes that feels GREAT. I've pretty much accepted that I will always have a BlackBerry in my life. Probably more than one. So as long as I have an old school model, why not supplement it with a new and modern one? So...... That beings me to Android. In particular, the DTEK50. I'd love to get it, but no Verizon service for the DTEK. Maybe a Priv is in my future.

Looking at the DTEK50 for a replacement. Not sure about the security regardless of what Blackberry claims

I'b be all over a DTEK50 if Verizon would support it. But alas, no CDMA radios so no DTEK for me.

Maybe if Blackberry wakes up they will realize Verizon services is rated highest and can sell the phone.

The only bad thing about needing a new phone s the cost.

DTEK50 is $259 and the 60 is $449. Higher than I like.
Checking replacement Z10 ( new ) is about $130.
to me it's functional for everything I need.

Would be nice if Blackberry would lower the prices more.

I'm not sure if they heard you, but I just picked up a Priv from Best Buy for $299.00

I hope I'll like it - never got over the physical keyboard separation...

Not that anyone at Blackberry is reading this forum I guess it's ok to wonder where they got their executive leadership. They are outsourcing the hardware to a Chinese company TCL. the first phone from them, the KeyOne is being blasted in the media as an expensive ( $550 ) underpowered (not a top tier processor) lower quality (12 mp) camera offering. Some think TCL is not reading the market correctly and the phone is way over priced and offers no improvements except a display over the keyboard.
The biggest issue is they do not have any carriers signed up to offer the new phones. It may be offered in various retail stores. It looks like the first release will be in Europe.
If it's like in the US, they will have a bigger problem because when you walk into a retail location like Best Buy or Walmart they usually lead people to the big sellers like I-Phone or Samsung first. The various reviews are not totally bad and do say the phone is a nice one but all question the cost.

Wait, just put in a bag of rice and add water and some lemon juice. Leave it in the freezer for 30 days and see if it helps.
