are the youtube videos viewed on the blackberry through m.youtube.com in high def or high quality, because i've been noticing better quality in the videos. They are of course still not perfect, but definitely an improvement

They are in a very poor quality; worse than that viewed on a PC. This is so that you could download it on 3G (considerably lower speed than land-line/cable broadband) without it buffering all the time.

VuClip has the option to Play videos in Hi-Res

yes, agreed. and it actually takes the full screen up, as opposed to youtube just being in the center mostly
