Default 8700g battery life

Please Login to Remove!

I got my 8700g August 15...normally the battery life last all day (I recharge every night).

Lately (last 3 days) I see battery go almost empty around 1PM after removing from charging at 5:15AM (I dont use the device much in the last few days which makes it odd)

I use Yak-On all the time
e-mails from yahoo and my tmo (about 20 emails a day)

Any idea what causes it?

TIA!
Thomas

i would suspect yak-on as it is always connected. did you condition your battery when you first got your bb?

I always had Yak-On since August! it"s just in the last 3 days the battery went down faster than before.

What do you mean by "did you condition your battery when you first got your bb?" I fully charged my bb then used it...and i've been recharging every night since.

The types of batterys that the blackberry uses work much longer if they have been conditioned.

There are threads on it, but here are the basics (new batter):

charge fully, discharge fully, charge fully, discharge fully, charge fully, discharge fully, then charge as wanted/needed.

So 3 full discharges with no 'touch ups' when the battery is new.

No matter how much "conditioning" you do, NOTHING will greatly effect the battery's service. In fact, fully discharging your L-Ion battery will GREATLY shorten it life.

I have never conditioned a battery and mine works just fine. maybe its luck maybe its not. Maybe I'm lucky. If you have an application running the whole time then it should drain the battery. It will just take time before you notice that the battery is taking a hit.

I'm heading over to TMO store to have them test da battery for me (I never knew that Battery has 90 day warranty, I thou' it was 1 year as a whole device) but I was lucky since it's within 90 days! If TMO says it is the battery, then I have to call TMO to have them mail me new battery, if TMO says it's the device, TMO will replace it.

On the same note...do you guys know how much the battery cost for 8700g?

TIA!

I have had this in the past a couple of times. Both times a full power cycle fixed it. ie remove battery and re-insert.
