Post Worthy Apps?

Please Login to Remove!

I have browsed through most of the apps (I think) but wanted other users opinions. Are there any apps available now that should be installed? Specific information on some paid apps would be great too. The app world reviews are seriously lacking.

I haven't been able to get my hands on one yet. Is there an MS Office suite app out there that will work on the Playbook?

DocsToGo comes pre-loaded on the PlayBook, and allows for creating and editing Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files.

I don't see the complaint on this, and I do have lots of my own. Seriously, you expect Microsoft Office?

DocsToGo is satisfactory for mobile, at least in my experience. The version that comes pre-installed on the PlayBook will create and edit documents, and not just read them.

With the email bridge, DocsToGo, and Adobe reader, things would be perfect for me if the Bridge Files App were at least minimally adequate.

I'm not complaining about office. docs to go works for me. I'm griping about the overall lack of quality apps. for now.

Search for Conqu in AppWorld and/or check out Conqu - A powerful multi-platform task management tool. Looks to be a very new, but potentially great GTD app for the PlayBook. There is a desktop component coming, and maybe with enough encouragement, a BlackBerry phone app as well.

I'm eager to see where this app goes over the next month or so.

As for other apps... you will have to be patient. They will show up, some sooner than others, but it's going to take time in any case.

I know others agree RIM should have had more apps lined up at launch, but I don't have an opinion either way.

I do have the opinion that the RIM app store for BlackBerry smartphones and the PlayBook is always going to be relatively small, though the quality of what is there is going to be highly subjective.

My biggest gripe is people complaining about the lack of apps. When the iPhone first launched, there was no app store, and it was riddled with bugs. The app store did not show up until close to or the release of the second version of the iPhone.

RIM did everything they could to get developers to flock to the Playbook. Hell they were offering free Playbooks to anyone that developed an app for the PB.

There is always going to be some groups that just won't have as many apps as the iPhone/iPad or Android does because there are idiots who believe everything that comes out of Apple and Steve Jobs ass, and there are people that think Google is the best thing since the invention of the wheel. Google can't even get their apps to work on every device that is out there because there is so much fragmentation and the same will happen on the tablets.

As far as Apple is concerned, their app store is bustling because people send in thousands of useless apps or duplicate the purpose of an app and change one little thing and market it as a separate app.

Give RIM and the PB time. The PB and the HP WebOS tablet are the two I'll keep up with. I really am not interested in an Honey Comb tablet and I have an iPad and I won't be doing iPad2, 3, or 4, or any others.

Doesn't look like a valid address. Site for sale?

Whether we like Apple and iOS or not is simply irrelevant. This isn't about keeping up with them either, just for keeping up's sake. Apps are a universal must-have (imo), and the playbook is missing some essentials. I dont think we need 300,000. How about a universal (or at least widely-used) e-reader? Google apps? Evernote? Instant messaging apps?

I'll go a step further and say that we dont need a majority of the apps on mobile OS because of the functionality of the browser, but some apps just make things more convenient. Thats what I want. And its not all RIM's fault. Although I would have at least expected them to get Google on board with their apps package.

Just give me a good RDP or VNC app. I can do "Log me In" via the web but the navagation and screen scalling is terrible. If Rove Mobile Admin steps up to the Playbook that would be awesome as well.

CIO Has issued a list of 10 Must-have free apps for the PlayBook.

When an app to manage your Netflix account, but can't stream the movies is included I think that says there is a lack of quality apps, but take a look here.....

Actually I love Logmein on the playbook browser...you can adjust the screen resolution, so its a matter of getting the right one out of the dropdown menu. I found it to be very functional. As long as your comfortable with working without a mouse.

I will play with it more but the reponse seems choppy and mouse support is a must. It certainly does not comare to RDP on the iPad but that could also have something to do with screen size as well. I'm looking to drop the iPad and use the Playbook completely for business but that is a obstacle. Infact the Rove Mobile Admin RDP app on my Torch is easier to use but the screen is too small to do any real work.
