I never get prompted to upgrade. I have followed the directions 3 times with the Orange 4.5 twice and now this one 1 time. I upgraded the desktop to 4.5 first and then the device upgrade. I just want to use my BT headset while on UMA otherwise I am fine with the 4.2 that Tmo USA has me running on. Any ideas as to why I cant upgrade. Is there something on the device I need to do. I dont know why this is to difficult for me.

This update was real sluggish and slow. I downgraded to the last one, and it's much better. However, when I did upgrade to this one, I lost all of my TMO myfaves icons. I didn't get them back when I downgraded either. Is there any way to get them back?

Call TMobile and have them refresh them for you. Otherwise it may just stick on "refreshing."

Just finished my upgrade and it seems a bit faster. I do pull my battery regularly and try to maintain 20+MB of free memory. I like it no problem so far.

Question Desktop Manager 4.6

Incase some of you guys didnt know, The Desktop Manager 4.6 is out on the backberry.com Website to download. It can be found here BlackBerry - Desktop Software - BlackBerry Desktop Software at BlackBerry.com

This is an official release not beta, as BBF does not allow links to unreleased RIM Software.

Downloading this now and I will give it a whirl. I just dumped my data plan yesterday so I'm only going to be using my 8320 as a phone anymore. I miss the data plan, but I barely used it anymore.

I upgraded yesterday and my phone seems to be working pretty much the same as before.

Thank you so much. IT is all up and working great. I really like this update. My problem was that I nuked the whole app loader folder and not just the vendor file. I really like not have the UMA - Bluetooth conflict and the video recorder is quite cool as well.

i have upgraded to .55 and the ringer volume is still the same...
only improvement that i can tell is the better UMA connection...

upgraded and things looked okay. upon closer look ... the upgrade wiped out my audio profiles - what I mean is I have all default ring tones associated with all my contacts, etc. my memory card shows up with all my ring tones and I have to go back and assign everything. first time this has ever happened.

The upgrade also cleared out all my individual custom ring tone assignments. I only had two though ;)

Default cant find the vendor file

Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader

Delete the vendor.xml file as stated in the instructions in the first post. You need to delete the vendor.xml file after you install Blackberry Desktop manager and after you run the 4.5 OS install file. Running the 4.5 install file will reinstall vendor.xml.

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8320:

1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager installed. If you need it here's a link for Desktop Manager:

2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 45 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device

To find the previous OS for this device... CLICK HERE.

Thank you! I didn't realize I had to delete it twice.

Arrrrggghhh.... waiting at 'Connecting to device' after a reboot. It has been over 10 minutes and I'm getting sick to my stomach that I just bricked my phone.
