I think i would go with the 7105. It is smaller more like a phone. It has a nicer screen and is faster then the 7290. It has the suretype technology, it does take some getting use to but it is good once you have it. I have had both, and the 7290 is nice also.

Anybody else use the 7290 and prefer it??? I currently have a 7105 but the problem im having with it is everybody i talk to on it can''t hear me. They say it sounds like im in a wind tunnel. I've been told by several people if i get a headset it will take care of that but to tell you the truth i really don't want to have to rely on a headset to be able to use my phone. My friend has one of the 7290 style phones and he never sounds bad on his so im thinking about switching. I just wondered if there were any downsides to having the 7290 other than size.

I'm guessing the 8700g is not an option for you then?

the 7290 is a bit sturdier built in my opinion, but the screen is not as bright as the 7100 series

I agree 100%, the 7290 is more solid, and the screen on the 7105 is much nicer. The big difference between then 7100 and 7105 is the screen, better for outside light.

i think you have to tell us what you plan on using it for the most. I have had both phones and definately prefer the 7290. if you are an email junkie - then the suretype might get on your nerves (it got on my mine). But if your on your phone all day long and only use email/SMS briefly or for short messages, then the better screen and phone options (such as speaker phone and phone-like design) will suit you best.

Personally, I like the full keyboard of the 7290, although I miss the 7100 screen some. The other benefit of the 7290 is that you can program speed dialing for each of the 26 letters of the alphabet (m for Mom, v for voicemail, etc, etc) and I think that is an awesome feature that's often overlooked.

There are several posts here regarding the poor quality of the 7100/7105 (the 7130 hasn't been around long enough?). I personally just ditched a 7100 because no one could understand me at all.
If it's still under warranty, you should probably see if it can be replaced or upgraded.

The 7105t always felt cheap to me, but it is slightly faster. Id get the 7290, but only because I am a freak when it comes to build quality.

I like my 8700g though.

After about a year I just got tired of feeling like a telegraph operator every time I wanted to type out a word on the 7100t. I just got the 7290 last week and....aiee! chihuaha! what a difference! The 7290 is much much better starting with fitting sleekly into my pocket rather than carrying around the bulging 7100t. And I can hear callers without **having** to use the speaker phone or bluetooth. The speaker on the 7100 is a whisper at full volume.
