This.

I wish it was just a bit bigger, maybe like that of the 9000.

In terms of the hardware, I can't say much...most of my issues have to do with the OS/software side. For example, why does setting a daily alarm [I use my 9700 as a bedside alarm clock] have to show up in the calendar app? I don't need a calendar entry to tell me to get up every morning! Speaking of bedside clock use, the clock display is WAY TOO BRIGHT. I find it literally bright enough to be a nightlight, even on bedside mode. In the middle of the night with my eyes dark-adapted, it's really hard to look at if I want to check the time.

One general thing that bugs me about many phones [not just BB] is the way the top of the phone is smooth and tapered, making it hard to remove from a slip case. It may sound like a small thing, but a little flaring or a grippy surface on the upper corners would make it a LOT easier to pull out of a case.

I also don't like the microSD port on the side...I can never get the cable plugged in without trying it the wrong way a few times.

So...some minor complaints, but really, the 9700 is a great phone....

My only minor annoyance is that they changed the USB port on the side. Yet another car charger that had to be bought to work with yet another phone.

Someday all cellphones will use the same style ports and I won't have to buy new accessories with every new phone purchase!

All in all, I'm super impressed with my 9700. There are some features that the 8310 trumps it on, but with a bit more use, I've gotten used to it.

I don't "hate" anything. I would have liked a bigger screen and as mentioned before...a bit bigger overall. It seems that you can never have enough memory. Still a great phone (and so much more)!

My BlackBerry history started with the 8700, then the 8800, then the 8330, then the 9700. I like the 9700 most of all - at first, I missed the 8330's keyboard but now I've gotten used to it. I like being able to watch YouTube on it; and I actually like the zoom in (I); zoom out (O) better then Opera - which I've also downloaded to view Salesforce.

To the person who commented on the Alarm showing in the Calendar - access Calendars then Options, then General Options and change Show Alarm to No.

I'm looking forward to seeing the 9800 slider. I really would like a bigger screen to view pictures, surf, etc - although it is not my primary use of the phone.

I also hope they skip the 5mb camera and just go to an 8mb camera - lastly, if they could make the browser zoom in and out as good as Safari - it would be perfect.

Thanks and good luck.

All of the major cell phone manufacturers (except Apple) have agreed to support the micro USB port as the standard charging port going forward.

You asked for it... now you got it... if only Apple would play nice.

I don't like the new USB port on the side either.

Ditto on that one... Changing that port really made me feel I was suddenly with a new type of phone. I've had the same plug by my bed for years then suddenly it didn't work any more... Now this new one is harder to plug in in the dark and turning on the light gets me a night on the couch (the wife gets up early)...

I'm pretty sure the 9700 is the best its gonna get for next few months. But i'v seen screenshots of some new BBs .. (bye bye trackball lol) .. I'v had 9700 for about 5months now and I love it. Yu would have to force me to say something bad about the phone ... for me personally I guess UMA would be nice lol. Maybe the phone could be a little bit thinner. But im picking at the phone. Overall the Blackberry is perfect for an addict like myself

OK, I found one. Not sure if it's only 9700 or any BB, but I really really hate the fact that I cannot stop emails from coming to my BB when I am in the office and have access to a computer/emails (thus no need for emails to hit my BB).
Yes, I know, I can shut data off, but then my BB mail won't work either;
or I can use a 3rd party app (which I do), but it doesn't work that good to say the least.

So there you have it. I really hate that.
I wish there was a way to easily shut down selective email accounts that are set up in your BB at a flip of a switch, and then turn them back on at another flip of a switch.

I second this idea too.

ok, I can't comment too much as I only played with my mates 9700 for a little while but the phone seems awesome which is why i ordered mine today. Will be getting it in next week. The only thing I would like to have besides what sbi mentioned with regards to e-mails is one feature that the Nokia E73 has.... 2 profiles. My gf has that phone... during office hours all mails and contacts gets sent to phone. when she leave the office she switches profiles. Completely different, from screensaver, to ringtones and then her personal mail comes to that profile only. Perfect thing to keep work and play apart. That is one feature I would really like to see on this device... it's legendary. Anyone here know how I might be able to achieve this when my 9700 comes?

256MB is a luxery for BB's at the moment.
(The 9650 will have 512MB).
