When I bought this phone I decided to manage my media as following: music, pictures and other files in the media card. Movies in the internal memory.
The problem is that after I've deleted some movies or TV shows from the internal memory and added others via USB, then when the phone refreshes its media library it shows the names of ALL old files I've deleted inside the video folder

I figure out that to fix that I have to go to options-memory-menu and Repair both internal and media card. The process then would show the current files as it should.

This bug does not occur when I only transfer files from and to media card while on the computer so I now it has to do with internal memory.

I don't know if this has a permanent fix so I don't have to waste time repairing memories (since it takes minutes deleting and adding files to the library) and I just wanted to write this down and see if someone else is experiencing this behavior

I can't imagine your reasoning. But putting media in device memory doesn't make sense to me, especially videos which generally would tend to be larger files.



That said, what you are observing is a symptom of boogered .dat files, and is typically corrected by deleting the .dat files and letting the device recreate.

Regardless, I recommend using the media card for your videos as well as other media files.

What exactly do you mean by "Repair both internal and media card" ? Is this something unique to 9550's?

What Ira said about the ".dat" files is accurate.

dev, in the media card options there is a repair item in the menu above or below format. At least on my 9700. Didn't notice it on 8820 or wife's 8100. Haven't looked up to see exactly what it does. I assume that is what OP is referring to.

Hmm, don't seem to have that option on my 9000. Maybe it's a OS 5 thing?

My reasoning is that the Storm 2 has an application memory of around 256MB, an internal memory (not for apps) of 2GB, and the media card that was included, 16GB.
So since I like having plenty of space for music I leave the converted video files (of around 450MB each) inside the second memory.

I know but it sucks that I have to go thru this mess each time I use the secondary memory.
Do you think a format would help Ira? I didn't want to do it because that memory is use for some apps resources. I know its not the same as for other BBs I'm gonna attatch a screen picture.

I assume there are .dat files in each folder containing media. Try deleting them and then see if you can figure out what is happening. I personally have never had the problem and only know from the experience of others.
