But then from the "download" page:
"Prerequisites
Before you download and install Mobile GMaps, make sure you have support for:
Internet or WAP access on your cell phone xxx8212; MGMaps downloads all map and satellite tiles in real-time over the web. The application is completely free but you may be charged by your network operator for internet access."
So it would appear that you may store the maps on your microSD card AFTER downloading them, using the app, requiring data access on your BlackBerry. Could use the app while out of cell reception range, but can't use it without a data plan.

Sorry, I can't help you if Rogers isn't competitive. AT&T will give you the 8310 right now for $99.95, with a 2 year commitment. Doesn't change the fact that you have to have a data plan use your GPS to provide mapping. And since you said you're on a plan that doesn't allow any "browsing or 3rd party apps" then finding a "workaround" allowing data access would still be theft of services.
