Default In-place upgrade of Windows server

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

Although I don't think there is any pending issues but I could be wrong and so I just want to check with the experts before I proceed with the Windows server upgrade.

I have to upgrade the blackberry server from Windows 2003 to 2008 std edition. The Small business server with Exchange 2003 is on another server. If I upgrade just the Windows operating system on the BES 4.1.6 server, would there be any issues that you see? This will be an inplace upgrade. Another question is what should I back up on the BES in case something went wrong.

Thank you so much.

BES 4.1.6 is not compatible with Windows Server 2008. See the compatibility matrix:

So it's on your own risk.

Thanks! Good thing I asked. I was close to upgrading the server this weekend. Anyways does this mean we will have to upgrade the blackberry server than before upgrading the server?

Reduced functionality, which may not affect you anyway. Top amongst them is a greatly reduced set of IT policies. Download the docs and check it out.
